CHIN, NECK AND JAWLINE
Chin and neck liposuction removes localized fat under the chin and along the jawline through very small access sites. It works when fat is what is filling out the profile. When fullness comes from loose skin, muscle bands, or the position of the jaw itself, liposuction alone will not correct it.
Treatment at a glance
- Role: targeted FormSculpt for localized subcutaneous fat.
- Areas: submental chin and selected neck or jawline contours defined in the written plan.
- If skin is the issue: Renuvion may be discussed as a separate procedure and is priced separately.
What is chin and neck liposuction?
Chin and neck liposuction is targeted fat removal for localized subcutaneous fat beneath the chin and in selected adjacent contours. At BodyLuxe, these areas may be treated as targeted FormSculpt when Dr. Farrugia’s evaluation and your written plan support treatment.
Submental fullness can reflect fat, skin laxity, anatomy, weight change, or more than one factor. Consultation determines whether liposuction addresses the main concern or whether another plan is more appropriate.
What treatment can and cannot change
The goal is localized fat contouring, not a promised jawline or a universal treatment for every double-chin concern.
It may address
Localized subcutaneous fat beneath the chin or in selected adjacent neck and jawline contours, subject to your anatomy and whether liposuction suits you.
It does not guarantee
Skin tightening, elimination of bands or deeper structural fullness, perfect symmetry, or a particular jawline or profile.
Another plan may fit better
Skin laxity, anatomy, prior treatment, or another clinical factor may lead to a device-led, combined, staged, nonsurgical, or no-procedure recommendation.
How liposuction differs from Renuvion
Liposuction and Renuvion answer different treatment questions. Liposuction removes reachable subcutaneous fat; Renuvion is a separate energy-based procedure considered for skin tightening when clinically appropriate.
Renuvion is not automatically included with chin or neck liposuction. Its device mechanism, suitability, risks, recovery, and pricing belong on the dedicated Renuvion page. If both are considered, the written treatment plan and quote must identify each component.
Who may want to discuss chin and neck contouring?
A consultation determines whether chin and neck liposuction suits you. Assessment includes the source of fullness, anatomy, health history, medications, goals, skin characteristics, prior procedures, and the extent of treatment being considered.
It may be worth discussing if
- Localized fat beneath the chin or in an adjacent contour remains the main concern.
- Expectations are realistic and include the limits of fat removal alone.
- You understand that skin, muscle, glands, bone structure, and other anatomy may affect the visible contour.
A different plan may be recommended if
- Skin laxity or another non-fat factor is the primary concern.
- Medical factors, prior treatment, or anatomy changes the risk-benefit balance.
- The goal depends on guaranteed tightening, a fixed jawline shape, weight loss, or another result liposuction cannot reliably promise.
How treatment is planned and performed
BodyLuxe staff may collect health histories, photographs, and administrative information and may assist with education and routine perioperative care.
Daniel J Farrugia, MD PhD FACS determines whether the procedure suits you, develops the surgical treatment plan, performs the preoperative markings, and personally performs the liposuction. Postoperative care is provided by Dr. Farrugia and the BodyLuxe nursing team; Dr. Farrugia remains involved in follow-up and retains physician responsibility.
Recovery and result timing
Recovery varies with treatment extent, health, occupation, prior surgery, and combined procedures. Soreness, bruising, swelling, firmness, temporary numbness, and some drainage from access sites may occur early.
Compression is used according to individualized postoperative instructions. Return to work and exercise timing varies; strenuous activity resumes only after clearance. Swelling and altered sensation may persist for weeks or months, so an early neck or jawline contour should not be treated as the final result.
A more meaningful contour assessment commonly occurs around three to six months. Maturation may take longer after extensive treatment, prior liposuction, combined procedures, or uneven swelling. Individual results vary.
Risks and limitations
Expected temporary effects may include soreness, bruising, swelling, drainage, firmness, temporary numbness or altered sensation, and temporary contour distortion from swelling.
Possible complications and undesirable outcomes include bleeding or hematoma, fluid collection, infection, delayed healing, scarring, pigmentation change, persistent swelling or altered sensation, pain, contour irregularity or asymmetry, under-correction or over-correction, residual fat, loose or irregular skin, skin injury, injury to nerves, blood vessels, muscles or deeper structures, medication or local-anesthetic complications, blood clots or cardiopulmonary complications, need for additional treatment, and an outcome that does not meet expectations.
This liposuction overview does not describe device-specific Renuvion risks. Those risks are covered separately when Renuvion is part of the discussion. This is a concise, non-exhaustive overview and does not replace a personal medical evaluation or informed-consent discussion.
How personalized pricing works
Chin sculpting without Renuvion is $3,500. Adding Renuvion is $2,000, for a combined price of $5,500. Your written plan and quote identify each component.
If a separate procedure such as Renuvion is considered, the written plan and quote must identify it rather than implying that it is automatically included. Eligible clients may use Cherry Payments or CareCredit to pay over two years with zero interest. Terms apply.
Questions patients often ask
Is chin liposuction a weight-loss procedure?
No. Targeted FormSculpt is intended to contour localized subcutaneous fat rather than treat obesity or produce weight loss.
Are patients awake during targeted FormSculpt?
Patients typically remain awake and able to communicate. Tumescent local anesthesia is used rather than general anesthesia, and medication may be administered or prescribed for anxiety, pain control, and comfort when appropriate.
What does submental mean?
Submental refers to the area beneath the chin. Fullness there can reflect fat, skin, anatomy, or more than one factor, so consultation is needed before selecting a treatment.
Can liposuction define my jawline?
It may change a contour when reachable subcutaneous fat is contributing, but a particular jawline or profile cannot be guaranteed. Bone structure, muscle, glands, skin, and other anatomy also affect appearance.
Can chin or neck liposuction tighten loose skin?
Skin tightening cannot be guaranteed. When laxity is a primary concern, another or combined plan may be discussed after clinical evaluation.
Is Renuvion automatically included?
No. Renuvion is a separate procedure. Chin sculpting without Renuvion is $3,500, and adding Renuvion is $2,000. Your written plan identifies whether it is included.
How does liposuction compare with injectable options?
The options work differently and suit different concerns. We do not declare one approach universally better; consultation determines whether surgical fat removal, a nonsurgical alternative, another plan, or no procedure is appropriate.
When can I return to work?
Some patients with desk-based work may return within several days to approximately one week. Others need one to two weeks or longer. Physical work, extensive treatment, and combined procedures generally require additional time.
When can results be evaluated?
A more meaningful contour assessment commonly occurs around three to six months. Maturation may take longer after extensive treatment, prior liposuction, combined procedures, or uneven swelling. Individual results vary.
How much does chin or neck liposuction cost?
Treatment plans are personalized, and final pricing varies by BMI and other criteria evaluated during consultation. A written quote follows the individualized assessment.
Consultation and next steps
Your consultation will determine whether fullness comes from fat, skin, muscle, skeletal anatomy, or a combination. Your written plan will explain the recommended procedure, alternatives, recovery, risks, and exact price.
